The Heron Campus: Turning AI Factories into Grid Resources

A Power Conversion Platform for Every Job
Download the White Paper

AI data centers are the fastest-growing load on the U.S. grid and among the hardest to integrate. Their power draw can swing by hundreds of megawatts in less than a second, and they can drop off the grid almost instantaneously. This paper argues that AI factories should be built as grid resources. That means designing campuses from the start to present a smooth, predictable load profile; to curtail load when grid operators ask; and to get the most out of their interconnection by converting power efficiently. It presents three reference designs built around Heron Link, Heron’s medium-voltage power conversion platform: an AC facility with minimal redesign from today's conventional approaches, an 800 VDC facility for maximum efficiency, and a bridge-to-power facility that offers the fastest path to power in grid-constrained regions.
